I received this inspirational Text- Overcoming Struggle
Woman: I thought I would share my struggle last night with you…Hubby’s great aunt died and the visitation was in Judsonia so afterwards we went to 1 of 2 restaurants to eat in Bald Knob called “Who Dats.” I got the grilled platter which was $30 I told them I wanted to switch my potato for grilled veggies and they told me no substitutions were allowed. I said ok I will pay for them it was an extra $6.00 and I asked them to leave my rice off and they said they weren’t allowed to do that. What? The whole bottom of my plate was rice I spent my entire meal scraping rice off of my food. So frustrating!!!
Me: OH WOW…… THAT IS INCREDIBLE! So Ridiculous! You are incredible to overcome that…. brave…..& empowering…..can i send this to Dr Chandler? Incredible! 10:56 AM
Woman: Yes 10:57 AM
Me: And…..YET, YOU DID IT! ….very inspiring for others 10:58 AM
Woman: When we were checking out to pay they had a sign that said….”This isn’t Burger King you can’t have it your way it is our way or no way! 10:59 AM
Me: Unbelievable! They definitely do not have a Starbucks or Walmart or Burger King attitude…..I can’t wait to share this 11:02 AM
Woman: I was made to feel like I wasn’t easy going with the people with us. I was embarrassed, but yes I did it. Our bill was $80 plus tip and they don’t even sell alcohol so just letting u know that was our bill for 2 people food only. The food was amazing, but the not willing to make any substitutions was crazy to me. I could understand if it was pre mixed food but it wasn’t. 11:11 AM
Me: That is crazy! NEVER let others make you feel that way…you ARE so worthy to make your own decisions and choices without judgment.
You Rock! Can I blog this ? I will .just share the story with no name 12:34 PM
Woman: Yes 12:38 PM
First….
I want to applaud her and point out that she was in a difficult situation socially, physically, emotionally, and financially…. And yet she made her choice and stood by her convictions. SHE OVERCAME! She made it work!
Second…..
Have you experienced judgment from others about your FOOD choices after starting the Ideal Health NOW program as this woman did?
Are you judging others about their Food choices now that you are learning a healthier lifestyle?
As someone who is continuing to learn and take baby steps toward a whole foods healthier diet, I’ve often felt this judgment from other people or I have dished out my own judgmental attitude upon others. (* note : Some of those feelings I have experienced certainly been based only on my perception from others and not reality – others may not have been judging me – I just perceived it that way)
We all know that the judgment about FOOD CHOICES really does exist on both sides.
Our goal at Ideal Health NOW is to not only provide training on how to use the Ideal Protein product and to educate about the body’s process of food and energy, but we want to help you to enjoy the freedom of a healthy body & maintain health.
We are trying to push back against the standard American diet (SAD) and help others discover how processed foods and inferior ingredients affect our bodies – which is a good thing, but it can also manifest itself in a rigid and judgmental attitude toward other people who aren’t making the same decisions as us.
During the 4th of July Week – Give yourself FREEDOM!
# 1 – Give yourself freedom that it is OKAY to make Healthy Food Choices – you never know how your good choices influence others to make better choices. Be an encourager!
Don’t complain that you are deprived. You get to choose great healthy food. Look how many in the world do not have that freedom of choice. You are choosing to get your body in better health and a healthy body enjoys more freedom.
#2 – Give yourself freedom to ENJOY the relationships – It is not about the food. Eat on your Ideal Health NOW plan and allow others to eat on their plan. Enjoy the people you are with. When we judge another person’s food choice – even if we do it silently – it begins to build a wall between us, and we miss out not only on the opportunity to share what we know but also the opportunity to learn about others and enjoy the relationship.
# 3 Practically speaking, how do you handle social events and get-togethers with freedom and grace and NOT judgment, …… without sacrificing our own goals & convictions?
Here are some strategies to get you started, but mostly, just love people for who they are and don’t worry about trying to change them!
- Bring your own food. Like the recipe at the end of this blog! I just let people know I have special dietary needs and will bring my own food, which is very understanding to all.
- Invite people to your home. In this case, it might be best to avoid the strange offerings (kombucha?!) in favor of healthier variations of popular foods that are sure to entice their taste buds. (* see the Jambalaya recipe below)
- Be open about your food choices without judging their food choices. If people know you are making healthier choices for yourself only – without judging the food on their plate, that makes you a safe person to talk to – they’re much more likely to ask you questions, so that you can encourage them on their own journey.
At the end of the day, the best thing you can do is to continue to make what you feel are the best choices for you without worrying about the choices other people are making. Most importantly, consider relationships with people more important than their food choices!
My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers, which I think fits this conversation perfectly: “Stop having a measuring rod for other people. There is always one more fact in every man’s case about which we know nothing.”
ENJOY your FREEDOM of gaining a healthier body and ENJOY the great recipe below.
