The Convenient Crutch (Part 2)

chips2          We have looked at the principles of the “Convenient Crutch” but lets get more specific in one area of our nations food habits. Fast-Food.

Yeah a little part of everyone just died inside as I said that.

 

So our culture has made itself into a people that cannot take time to eat something good for the sake of “convenience”. At the time of purchase and eating we cannot see the big picture. All we think is: “this is one meal that I need to eat and this is easy, tastes good, and cheap. Great! Let the Pork-a-thon begin.” Ok I added that last bit. But you get the idea. I am speaking in generalities of course. There are some fast-food items that are less “bad” for us, but usually not good for us.

 

What do I suggest? Two options:

  • Pack a lunch or
  • Find a healthy eating place.

003Packing a lunch is amazing. Most of the time left overs from the night before awesome feast is ready to go! It was good the first time so it will be good the second! Or just pack a new meal. Let’s see; it is cheaper, healthier, and tastes better. The pain of discipline just paid off. This is assuming you are packing a healthy lunch that fits with a new eating change. Which is why you are on plan right?

 

 

ngbbs50454381d066b.jpg  400×300Option 2: Eat at a healthier place that actually is good for you not just “not bad” for you. Example of the “not bad” option is a plain lettuce salad. You are eating solid water. No vitamins and no nutrients. So options are spinach salads or mixed veggie plates. So places for those items are: Subway (hey thats fast food and healthy. WO!), Jason’s Deli salad bar, Chili’s modified salads or steam veggies (you can include Ruby Tuesdays, Apple Bee’s, Cheddars, etc. Those American chains that serve…. Everything.), small cafe’s have veggies, hamburgers without buns. The options are so vast, but you must take the time/energy to plan and search our restaurants.

 

Application of this blog is towards the working lunch time but is used any time for any lifestyle. There are ways to eat right. Take the full hour of lunch break. Work can wait. It will still be there when you get back, I promise you. You will work better with a full, healthy stomach and you can enjoy the fruits of  the pain of discipline instead of the pain of regret.
